The Retreat in the Rockies, sponsored by the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists, is a time for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Christians, along with supportive allies to gather together for discussion, workshops and worship. The theme of the retreat is Faith Beyond Resentment. The retreat speaker, Dr. Rick Mixon, will guide us through some discussions that examine what it is to be both LGBT and Christian in the world today. Rick will use excerpts from Faith Beyond Resentment by James Alison as discussion points. Rick is a long time leader in the Baptist LGBT rights movement and currently serves as interim pastor at First Baptist Church of Granville, Ohio. The Worship leader is Rev. Jacki Belile, the energetic pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Chicago.

The retreat will begin with check in Monday afternoon, July 4. In the evening we well get to know each other and celebrate the nations birthday. On Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6, we will have workshops and worship and ample free time to explore Boulder. The retreat will conclude Thursday morning, July 7.

The site of the retreat, the University of Colorado at Boulder, is situated just north of Denver, at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. There is ample recreation in and around Boulder. The city itself features a picturesque downtown with wonderful shopping and restaurants. Lodging for the retreat will be in air-conditioned semi-private rooms with two single beds. Each room has a private bathroom. There is an option of a private room with one single bed for additional cost. When you register, you may indicate your preference for a roommate. If there is no roommate preference, you will be assigned one of the same gender by the retreat organizing committee. If you have indicated a private room, you will not be assigned a roommate.

The registration closed June 10th. The registration price was $199 (before April 30) and $235 (May 1-June 10) per person for a semi-private room (two people per room). Private rooms (one person per room) were available for $299 (before April 30) and $335 (May 1-June 10). Retreat registration closed June 10.
