JoAnne C. Juett
Council Member
Rev. Dr. JoAnne C. Juett was born and
raised in Scottsburg, Indiana. Rev. Juett received her Master of
Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville,
Kentucky in 1985, and was ordained as an American Baptist Minister the
same year. She earned her Master of Arts degree (1988) and Ph.D. (1994),
both in Comparative Literature, from the University of Georgia. Her
Bachelor of Arts degree (1982) in music is from Butler University,
Indianapolis, Indiana.
JoAnne is married to Dr. Samuel J. Juett,
who serves as a personnel director for international civilian police
training through the Department of State. They have two teenagers,
Jarred and Jacqueline. Both children participate in lgbt activities at
their schools, and they often accompany JoAnne at AWAB gatherings.
JoAnne is also a professor in the English
Department at University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire where she specializes
in Scientific and Technical writing. She also serves as faculty
co-advisor for Spectrum, the student lgbt organization, and she is
currently working with other professors in her department on research
and writing projects in lgbt literature.
Dr. JoAnne Juett has worked throughout
her career for inclusiveness in our society. From the time she developed
friendships among the gay and lesbian community in her undergraduate
fine arts department to the present, JoAnne has sought ways,
academically and theologically, to strengthen and support the LGBT
community, locally and beyond.
JoAnne promotes and supports the identity
of AWAB The Inspiriter, as voices in our movement share pertinent
information, challenge one another with heartening and heartbreaking
stories, and seek the higher thoughts that will one day make
inclusiveness a reality for all communities. |
