Meet the AWAB Council | |
 Barbara Hulsing Council Member Rev. Barbara Hulsing is pastor of Good Shepherd Community of Faith (formerly Good Shepherd Baptist Church) in Buffalo, NY. Good Shepherd's congregation voted to become Welcoming and Affirming in 2003, is now affiliated with American Baptist Churches, Rochester Genesee Region, and has recently dually aligned with the United Church of Christ. Barbara has been with Good Shepherd since September of 1999. The church ordained her in 2000 after her graduation from Christ the King Seminary with an M.Div. Barbara has been married for 37 years, has three sons and four grandchildren. Barbara's husband, Russ, served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, so they have considerable multicultural experience, having lived in Brazil and Japan (as well as throughout the U.S.) during their Navy tenure. Barbara is presently studying for her Doctor of Ministry in Transformative Leadership at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. The focus of her study is "On Being Allies" to the LGBT community. |
